Alpine RockFest to Air on CBS Sports Network
DENVER, COLO. (October 22, 2014) – Alpine RockFest, an annual event held on December 23, 2014 at the Paganella Ski Resort in the Italian Dolomites, will air on CBS Sports Network on January 25, 2015 at 7:00 PM, ET, marking the first time the event will be televised in the United States.
Alpine RockFest combines sport with entertainment in a vivacious atmosphere, drawing worldwide attention to winter sports. With a $75,000 first prize, the event has achieved great success in a short amount of time and attracts many of the world’s top alpine ski racers who start their season this weekend in Soelden, Austria. Ted Ligety, US Olympic Gold Medalist and defending Alpine RockFest Champion has confirmed his participation in this year’s event. Among the other fifteen confirmed athletes are Olympic Gold Medalist Christoff Innerhoffer of Italy, and 2009 Alpine RockFest Winner Cyprien Richard of France.
Alpine RockFest is an innovation of U.S. Men’s Alpine Ski Team former head coach Phil McNichol & Italian entrepreneur Marco Dallapiccola. “We are excited to bring alpine skiing to CBS Sports Network,” says McNichol. “This is a fantastic opportunity for ski fans in the US to check out what their Olympic medalists are up to while they are in Europe for the FIS World Cup season.”
After the race, a full concert is held at the Paganella Ski Resort venue, lending more to the “Alpine Racing Without Rules” motto. This year’s event will feature upcoming band Poor Works, a rock and British Pop band, and a special guest DJ will be announced in the coming weeks.
